What is a Pixel and what is the difference between image res and picture res

What is a Pixel

A pixel is the unit of programmable colour on a computer screen. A pixel is made up of many tiny dots that are a blend colours, RGB. A pixels value changes depending on the amount of dots present. This also depends on the program that you use. If you use paint, there are less dots per pixel available which means the pixel will be less intense in colour. But if you use a program such as Photoshop there are more dots per pixel available which means more variety on colour depth/intensity.
Above is a pixel and when you zoom in, you can see what makes up the black dot.

Image resolution:

Image resolution is the amount of pixels per inch. This means that as the resolution goes up, the more clear the image is but the image is smaller and vice versa.

Picture resolution:

Picture resolution is also the amount of pixels per inch but the difference is that it is a picture not an image.

Picture resolution and image resolution are 2 different things. Picture resolution is compared to a hand drawn picture being scanned in which affects the resolution depending on the size of the scanner. I mage quality on the other hand is compared to a picture taken with a camera. this will have better resolution depending on the MP of the camera.
